Virus from animals
The advance of coronavirus is spurring concerns regarding the slaughter of wild animals.
The coronavirus that caused SARS was linked to a market selling live animals, and it is expected the current coronavirus outbreak originated in the same way.
An influenza virus expert at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, said many animal diseases have not yet spread to humans, but ebola, avian flu, and measles are all believed to have jumped to humans from animals intended for slaughter.
